How does the software make an automated tasting wheel?

A tasting wheel allows you to record your personal experience of a drink within the flavor wheel. Creating a tasting wheel from various observed notes provides valuable insights. Our tasting wheel captures the complete experience, going beyond a simple description of tasting notes. It analyzes everything detailed in the review.

Our software follows these steps to create a tasting wheel based on web reviews:

  • Search for reviews, scrape them from the web, and store them (automated collection)
  • Combine all the reviews into a single document
  • Clean the text to prepare it for analysis
  • Analyze the text to identify flavors using the data-driven flavor profile
  • Create the tasting wheel

When analyzing, we calculate the similarity of the document to our data-driven flavor profile. Our algorithm groups the results and maps them to the corresponding main flavors. For an example of this analysis, please see our article: 10 Cane Rum.
